The global pandemic, otherwise known as COVID-19, has impacted many lives and communities. Many forms of entertainment have been shut down, leaving everyone to stay at home. The novel coronavirus has also caused many schools and jobs to switch to virtual and remote learning environments. For the health and safety of others, it is enforced in common areas to wear masks and practice social distancing. Additionally, regular hand washing is crucial in order to stay healthy and safe. COVID-19 has also led to some great advantages, over 2019 to 2020, for many families.  


Some advantages and benefits that many people were able to gain from COVID-19, include trying a new hobby, learning new recipes, studying for exams, writing college applications, learning a new sport, etc. People all across the globe are now able to experience and learn more about this pandemic. How exactly did the Coronavirus spread and start? In Wuhan, China the coronavirus started off and eventually spread to other countries. Many precautions and safety was taken for people traveling in and out of countries. 


COVID-19, relates to the STEM field, in the science aspect. For instance, it can be transmitted from person to person when droplets appear on someone. Therefore, a six feet distance is highly encouraged to prevent it from spreading. According to the WHO (World Health Organization), it is highly encouraged to wear masks and not gather in large groups. The science behind COVID-19 dates back to when scientists and researchers found out that it can be transmitted through coughing, sneezing and more.    


All in all, the global pandemic is impacting us in various ways that affect our daily lifestyles. It is crucial to understand the science behind the pandemic, and how it exactly can be transmitted. When a person who is infected with the virus sneezes or coughs the droplets are spread throughout the air. Thus, causing the people around them to catch it as well. Furthermore, researchers and scientists are still on the case and are trying their best to provide a vaccine for everyone.
